Lawrence Harrison born is a native Washingtonian. He attended D.C. public school and it was then he developed a love for drawing.
During his service in the United States Navy in 1978 he became a photographer. He traveled with the Admiral to various ports and captured the events and activities for the annual report that was published. In the beginning he started painting landscape and later discovered his expertise was portrait painting. One year later he was diagnosed with an advanced case of glaucoma. That did not stop him.
After experiencing vision loss, Lawrence sought out low vision rehabilitation and adaptive technology services to allow him to travel safely, live independently and enjoy leisure activities. His vision loss has gave him the courage and strength to continue painting and to serve as an example for other people experiencing vision loss.
He is an active member of Pilgrim AME .Church .He was elected to the Trustee Board and also a member of the Men’s Choir. He joined the God’s Plan Outreach Ministry and was elected an associate of the Lela M .Jackson Women’s Missionary Society.
When life throws him a curve ball, as he has experienced, he believes the God is the answer. Lawrence Harrison live faithfully by the Scripture: Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
